THE energy of the place is buzzing and electric, much like the coffee that it serves. People are often found sitting with their laptops on, brows furrowing in concentration with a cup of joe helping them focus on their work less than an arm’s reach. Coffee Factory is a haven for both working and chilling individuals looking for a great cup of coffee.

With its Instagram-worthy, rustic and industrial interiors, a wall filled with a variety of books any of its customers can peruse, a cozy place to work or hang out and, most importantly, great coffee, Coffee Factory totally has it going on.

What’s interesting to note about its coffee is that clients can choose what kind of bean to use for their coffee. Customers can customize their favorite brew from any of their four kinds of coffee beans: Kenya, Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia.

Coffee aficionados would enjoy getting to know each bean and differentiate the way its taste shapes into one’s palette. Kenya beans have the delectable flavor and aroma of fresh fruits and dark chocolate. Brazil beans have darker tones of chocolate, roasted coffee and butter. Colombia beans have the silky smooth sweetness of caramel. Ethiopia beans have the infused aroma and flavor of mixed herbs such as eucalyptus, lime, grapefruit and citrus with a very soft and light texture.

The coffee shop makes use of a cold brew contraption in brewing its coffee. Noah Yoon, one of the owners of Coffee Factory, explains that cold brew coffee actually maintains the bean’s many constituents. By brewing the coffee in low or room temperature, these solubles are not completely destroyed, which means that the coffee is less acidic with a lower caffeine content.

It takes a pretty long time when cold brewing coffee—about 12 hours—but when the end product is great coffee, the wait is worth it.

Coffee Factory’s menu is not only filled with coffee products but they also have fruit and non-coffee smoothies as well as a variety of tea drinks and pastries.

But probably the best thing about Coffee Factory aside from its coffee and drinks is that it’s a great place to work. People could actually concentrate on their work while having a steady flow of caffeine on their way. Now that’s a winning combo that could actually get one to finish a day’s work and finally dancing to Rihanna’s infamous catchy song instead of doing the song’s titular verb.

Coffee Factory is located at A.S. Fortuna St., Banilad, Cebu City. Brewing commences from 7 a.m. and goes on until 12:30 a.m.
