OVER the years, I’ve used beauty products and tools from any brand and any price (well, except the $100 Louboutin lipstick!). Here are a few budget buys that work wonderfully for as little as P39.50.
Taiwan false eyelashes
I was in Makati recently for work, and my colleagues and I stopped by Landmark for some last-minute beauty tools for our gala event that evening. Landmark is one of my favorite department stores ever because they have so much variety. These false eyelashes from Taiwan are only P99-P199 per box of 10 pairs. Many makeup artists swear by these, and I personally love them too because they are lightweight and don’t look like plastic. There are many styles available, from making lashes look just a bit longer and lusher, to dramatic pairs that really make a statement.
These are available in many places, but I picked mine up at Landmark because it was only P39.50. I chose a medium-size one because my hair is only about shoulder length, and I don’t want to have a giant ball of hair sitting on my head, either. This is a simple but nifty tool that helps you get the perfect bun every time, even for those very inept at hairstyling like myself. Put hair up in a ponytail, loop the doughnut through, then arrange hair to cover. Pin in place. Even if I have quite thick hair, just four bobby pins kept the bun intact the whole day and fetched compliments. A manual bun normally takes me at least a dozen pins and falls out halfway through the day.
Althea Korea, the best online source for all things K-beauty, has just launched its own brand of products starting with the Petal Velvet Powder. For P210, this translucent powder sets makeup and reduces oil with a velvet finish. Ideal whether you just want to be shine-free for a no-makeup look, or to set the hard work you’ve applied on your face. Find this at ph.althea.kr.
I saw a few friends posting about this tooth powder on social media, and their “before and after” shots got me very curious. I’ve been using it for less than a week and already, I’ve noticed a reduction in yellowish stains. Koko Clear is tasteless and safe even for sensitive teeth. It’s all-natural and made right in the Philippines, too. Promotional price is P500 per tub, which will last you ages as you only need one dab on your toothbrush per use. Order from email@example.com. Special thanks to Jennifer Sarmiento for letting me try this product!
