IN celebration of the Korean National Foundation Day, the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Cebu invited esteemed guests as it celebrated the 2017 Korean National Day last Oct. 3.

Held at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Grand Ballroom, the event began with the singing of the Philippine national anthem and Korean national anthem followed by messages from Consul General of the Korean Consulate in Cebu Oh, Sung Yong, and a representative for Cebu Provincial Governor Hilario P. Davide III.

While guests enjoyed a mix of international dishes including signature Filipino and Korean dishes, a video presentation of the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games was shown.

Making for an interactive night, traditional Korean items were on display for the guests to see like framed masks which play a significant part in Korea’s dances or religious rituals; those collected by the Korean Women’s Association from comb and handheld mirror to name a few; a display of the traditional home called Choga-jib; and a photo booth where they can get photos of themselves dressed in a hanbok, a traditional Korean garment.

Guests were also entertained by the different performances including a Korean drum dance called Samgo-mu, by Bujiwha; Taekwondo and K-Pop performances by Equinox and Merge.
