WITH the promise of creating a beautiful eco-friendly coastal leisure hub, Ayala Land Inc. and Cebu Holdings Inc. in partnership with Taft Properties Inc. broke ground for its 14-hectare leisure development: Seagrove.
The name shows the two main environmental attractions it hopes to develop; the sea and the mangroves in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City as the project fronts a 40-hectare mangrove forest. The estate is designed around a central water amenity and open spaces leading to and highlighting Magellan Bay and the existing mangroves with the master-planned 500 linear meter long, approximately 1.8 hectare area.
This 500 linear meter boardwalk will be opened for outdoor activities such as biking, zumba, yoga, tai chi, bazaars, arts and music festivals, performances, alfresco dining and picnics.
The total current planning area for Seagrove is 13.6 hectares and as a leisure hub, Seagrove hopes to offer diverse products including natural attractions, and a mix of several hotels with Holiday Inn Resort as its main anchor together with water-side retail, entertainment and outdoor recreation components. For Holiday Inn Resort, this will be their very first resort hotel in the country after nearly 1,200 hotels worldwide. All in all, it hopes to combine the beauty of nature and convenience as a one-stop shop with integrated and complete facilities for everyone.
“We are very excited about this partnership and this project. This will be our 24th estate to date, adding to our strong track record of building sustainable communities. Seagrove brings various attractions that will also help boost Cebu’s tourism economy even further and we foresee it being a main tourist attraction for generations to come.” shared Meean Dy, Ayala Land senior vice president, group head of Strategic Land Bank Management and president of the joint venture company Taft Punta Engaño Properties Inc.
Seagrove will be Cebu’s first coastal boardwalk retail project and will be carrying the first-of-its kind resort and retail features, fresh dining concepts, and a full range of experiences and services for travelers and locals.
