IT’S Korean dining in a swanky setting. Located in Island Central Mactan is CookPub Modern Korean Bistro & Bar.
Open since Aug. 31, the restaurant provides a modern setting for a bistro serving authentic Korean dishes and fusion dishes with ingredients sourced locally and from Korea. It’s got an extensive selection of dishes, to choose from its starters like the Cheese Tteokbokki, KFC or Korean Fried Chicken and Braised Pork Kimchi Jjim to name a few; its rice and noodle choices like Rabbokki, Bibimpan with the choice of spicy pork, spicy chicken or beef bulgogi, soup selections such as its clam soup, tuna kimchi stew; as well as dessert like CookPub-Bingsu (Korean version of the halo-halo) and Misu Otap Zabaione, a dessert combining Korean multi-grains and Otap.
For lighter choices, it has wraps, quesadillas and pizza as well.
For its cookout section, there’s the Soy Samgyupsal, Tteokgalbi, Grilled Panga, Spicy Grilled Squid and Beef Bulgogi to name a few.
If one wants someting healthy, there’s also the Misu Banana shake, a multi-grain drink filled with health benefits. Apart from its assortment of drinks from juices, shakes soda and wine, it also has different kinds of beer, Korean alcoholic beverages from Soju to Makgeolli, a slightly sweet alcoholic native beverage of Korea.
It has monthly promotions too such as its lunch combo and its 5+1 happy hour promo in which if one orders five bottles of beer, one gets a plate of Kimchi Cheese Fries for free for the month of December.
CookPub promises a relaxed atmosphere and strays from the familiar setup introduced here in the city where locals usually cook their own dishes. Along with the modern touches seen in its interiors, it promises reasonably priced, flavorful dishes. Best part? It’s open from 10 a.m. until 3 a.m.
