STORIES about Cebu’s magnificent Christmas trees couldn’t possibly fit in just one issue of SunStar Cebu, so here are more trees one should know about to light up the holidays.
SM Seaside City
The enchanting music of the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra swayed the audience as SM Seaside Cebu lit its 60-foot Christmas tree with a carousel underneath. Santa Claus himself attended the dazzling tree lighting. The lighting was led by Marissa Fernan, vice president of SM Prime Holdings Inc. She was joined by other young personalities such as Parker Uy, Bentley Uy, Saige Romualdez, Mather Rousseau, Ema Onda, Luis Seno, Juan Alegrado, Daniel Siao, Yohan Gayatin and Zoe Lee. Together with the lighting of the mall’s Christmas tree, the well-loved annual drive known as SM Bears of Joy was announced where for P200, shoppers can buy two bears: one to keep and another one to be donated to the mall’s chosen charity.
Radisson Blu Cebu
On a beautiful starry night, Radisson Blu was lit with smiles as its spectacular Christmas tree, embellished by lights with hues of blue and white, overcame the guests with joy. It is such a wonderful thing to behold such that nights at Radisson Blu are now unlike any other. The tree lit up to the merry tune of the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra and the wonderful voice of Cebu’s diva Anna Fegi-Brown during the launching. Radisson’s Christmas tree does not only provide a wonderful sight but also provides warmth to the heart as it symbolizes the opening of the gift-giving season with its fund-raising campaign for Smile Train, an organization that provides free operations for children with clefts. The campaign aims to sell Christmas tree ornaments with the proceeds of the sale going to Smile Train.
Marvel at the giant European fir tree of Robinsons Galleria lit in 16,000 energy-efficient LED (light-emitting diode) lights. These LED lights symbolize the dedication of the mall to continue pushing for advocacies needed by the environment. In a festive spirit, the tree was lit with special guest Gerald Anderson and mall goers were treated to a spectacular show of lights and gift giving as Robinsons Galleria gave gifts to children from Barangay Tejero and Tejero Day Care Center. Together with the lighting of the Christmas tree was the launching of the mall’s Christmas Trees exhibit already on its third year entitled 2017 Festival of Trees, which is a fund-raising activity for each of the contending organization’s chosen charities.
Ayala Center Cebu
Ayala Center Cebu, together with Firefly and True Value, brightens the holiday season with its first outdoor Christmas tree. The region’s premier lifestyle destination for shopping, dining and entertainment ushered in the yuletide season with the lighting of its first outdoor Christmas tree at the Garden area along Cardinal Rosales Ave. last Nov. 24. The tree was made in partnership with Firefly, one of the nation’s most trusted brands in energy-efficient LED lighting, and True Value. The tree stands 32 feet high adorned with festive ornaments and Firefly’s newly launched LED Christmas lights. This traditional activity done by Firefly in Metro Manila was brought to Visayas for the first time, reflecting its commitment to providing Filipino families with brighter homes and communities. Present were Ayala Center Cebu general manager Celeste “Bong” Dy, Firefly assistant trade marketing nanager Joanna Dela Cuesta and True Value operations manager Raymond Mojares. (with PR)
