Crooner Richard Poon

A NEW player in the luxurious resort industry—The Residences at Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort—opened its initial look-and-see event to media and select guests through a scintillating Christmas tree lighting presentation at its showroom in Mactan.

The lighting of the sparkling 15-foot tree was graced by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, Gelena Asis Dimpas, OIC Designate of the Mayor, and Joy Veloso, executive vice president of AppleOne Properties Inc.

The evening’s holiday agenda included special performances by a ballet duo and a swooning set of yuletide carols by the country’s multi-awarded big band crooner, Richard Poon. Sigh!

Incidentally, the Residences at the Sheraton Cebu Mactan Resort is a premier resort condominium developed by AppleOne-Mactan and managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts.

Sheraton and AppleOne definitely promise more exciting times ahead!

On the subject of hotels, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, overlooking picturesque Cebu City from atop Nivel Hills, has another surprise up its sleeves.

“Signature Six” was coined by the hotel, from guest favorites, best sellers and hotel-wide signature items. These are, starting from Cafe Marco, discover the adobo corner, featuring pork, chicken or seafood marinated in vinegar, soy sauce and garlic. Mmm.

At the lobby lounge, try the now famous ensaimadas, sweet, fluffy and extra cheesy, in three flavors: plain, ube and mango. You can’t leave without savoring the mango cheesecake, creamy and sinfully good, with luscious Cebu mangoes and a crust of crushed chocolate chip cookies!

Why are these called “malicious cookies?” Because they are; rich cookie dough combined with maliciously good chocolate chips definitely make these award-winning. Try them now.

How about cooling your palate with refreshing tea? Marco Polo presents meticulously prepared Earl grape iced tea. Concocted with a combination of elderflower syrup, earl grey tea and seedless green grapes. Truly, to die for!

Newly introduced to the public, the silk road iced coffee is a “must-try.” Blended iced frappuccino created from overnight-infused coffee, with cinnamon syrup, and milk, and topped with marshmallow and Italian meringues. Pair this with cinnamon S’mores for a perfect treat!

What are you waiting for? Try the “Signature Six” and make your day!
