THERE’S a new male pageant in Cebu City: Hari Sa Sugbo 2018.
Produced by designer Malayka Yamas, the screening for its candidates started last December. At present, there are 14 candidates vying for the title introduced to Cebu media last Feb. 7 at St. Mark’s Hotel located at Queens Road, Kamputhaw, Cebu City.
According to Misty Zamora of Hari sa Sugbo 2018, to become a candidate, one must have Filipino ancestry, must be 18 years old and above and have good moral character.
Days leading up to the competition, its candidates were involved in a string of activities from charitable events, several guestings to various photo shoots including a photo shoot of notable designer Cary Santiago’s perfume for Bench.
The Grand Finals will be this Sunday, Feb. 18, 8 p.m. at the Arctic Hall of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino where four segments will take place: the Hari costume, swimwear competition, Bench underwear segment and the formal wear. The second runner-up will receive a cash prize of P20,000. The first runner-up will receive P30,000 while the Hari sa Sugbo 2018 winner will win a cash prize of P50,000. The crown was designed by Mark Anthony Tenchavez of Shandar. It’s made out of Swarovski crystals that speaks of royalty.
More than it being a male competition, it’s an advocacy pageant for gentlemen as it tapped Cebu Plus Inc., as the pageant’s advocacy is to promote and spread HIV awareness and education.
