CEBU Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia reported back for work yesterday after serving her 180-day suspension and immediately informed Capitol employees and the Provincial Board (PB) about her assumption of office.

She arrived at 3:55 p.m. after a team, led by her chief of staff Elizabeth Francia, prepared her office, which has been padlocked these past four months.

Ex-Swat cop named in kidnapping

A FORMER member of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) was charged along with his accomplices before the Talisay City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday morning for allegedly abducting an overseas worker.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 filed the kidnapping and car theft complaints against former police officer Lee Legaspi Colina of the CCPO Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat), Ronilo Roble, and two other cohorts who remain unidentified.

Private firm to supply water to upland villages

ABOUT 5,000 families living in three mountain villages in Cebu City will have access to safe and affordable water supply.

This, after the Metropolitan Cebu Water District entered into a joint venture with Abejo Waters Corp. (AWC) for the supply of 4,800 cubic meters of water a day to some portions in Barangays Talamban, Bacayan and Pit-os.

A GROUP of teachers complained against Talisay City Schools Division Superintendent Woodrow Denuyo for allegedly prioritizing the hiring of teacher-aide volunteers (TAV) for national teaching positions.

The teachers, who refused to give their names, claimed they got the highest scores in the teachers’ ranking test in Talisay, but Denuyo reportedly prioritized TAVs even if they scored low in the examination.

Family spared from falling boulder
