Media to help fight malnutrition
Saturday, May 14, 2011
WRITERS from radio, TV, print and the Internet promised to help the National Nutrition Council (NCC)7 disseminate information about proper nutrition through the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development (Mind) 7.
“Mind 7 is more than just a press corps of NCC. We work beyond our duty. We don’t just report, but we also take part in taking action for proper nutrition, and in my case, as a part of our corporate social responsibility,” said Mind 7 president Jun P. Tagalog.
Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.
Dr. Parolita Mission of NCC 7 said the government can’t do the giving of information alone, so the agency organized Mind 7 to reach out to the public.
“Tapping the expertise of the media, we believe that they can package the information
into something which is palatable to the public,” she added.
NCC hopes that through this partnership, the public will change their food choices.
Blogging
Blogger and Mind 7 vice president for social media Vernon Joseph M. Co said their involvement serves as a good start for the blogging society.
“Since the content is pre-provided, we will make it interesting enough to citizens so they will learn about proper nutrition,” he added.
The group prepared a line-up of nutrition month activities, which include a breastfeeding rally, establishment of a lactation station, a nutrition photo contest, an art exhibit and a Nutri Chef Challenge Launch. (Jayve Catubay, UP Mass Comm intern)
