PROVINCIAL Board (PB) Member Arleigh Sitoy, in a resolution, is urging women to avoid glutathione shots and to eat fruits and vegetables instead.
“Upon (the) motion of Arleigh Sitoy, seconded by Sergio Restauro, the resolution advises the public that eating a lot of fruits and vegetables can boost natural glutathione levels in the body instead of using injectable glutathione,” the resolution said.

The Board approved the resolution last Monday.
Glutathione is a popular whitening solution, taken internally, orally or through injectables.
The resolution stated that glutathione is a natural and endogenous substance or antioxidant produced by the liver to help boost the body’s immune system.
“According to the Food and Drug Administration, eating lots of watermelon, avocado, broccoli, spinach and tomatoes will help boost natural glutathione levels in your body,” the resolution said.
The measure also discouraged the use of injectable glutathione as it “can cause derangement in thyroid function, (lead to) kidney failure and poses a high risk of transmission of blood-borne diseases.”
The resolution also stated “the Local Government Codes imposes upon the state its duty to protect and promote the health and safety of the people and shall ensure the basic health services to their inhabitants.”
Resolutions and ordinances that Sitoy authored often grab headlines.
He once authored a resolution reminding chicharon (pork crackling) consumers that the Cebuano delicacy is fat-laden and contains high levels of cholesterol. He further warned consumers in his proposed resolution that chicharon must be consumed with extreme caution.
He also authored a measure of adding a third sex to the existing male and female comfort rooms.
So far none of these two measures have been implemented.
