TAKE care of the forest as it provides water and prevents flooding.
This was the message of Rep. Eduardo Gullas (Cebu, first district) to residents of Talisay City, which was celebrating its 11th Charter Day celebration.

Gullas, father of the Talisay City charter, and Gov. Gwen Garcia were the guests of honor during yesterday’s activity.
The governor, for her part, assured Talisaynons that the Province is ready to assist the city.
The activity began with a mass, followed by a short program. Towards the end of the program, the awarding of “child-friendly” barangays was held. It ended with Gullas and Garcia formally opening the photo exhibit on the City’s achievements through the years.
In his call to protect the forest, Gullas was referring to the 29,062-hectare Central Cebu Protected Landscape (CCPL), which was signed into law (Republic Act 9486) in 2007. The CCPL covers the Sudlon National Park, the Cebu Central National Park, Mananga River Watershed Forest Reserve, Kotkot-Lusaran Watershed Forest Reserve and the Buhisan Watershed Forest Reserve.
The watershed covers areas in the cities of Cebu, Talisay, Danao,Toledo and the towns of Minglanilla,Consolacion, Liloan, Compostela and Balamban.
“Every year, I appropriated an amount for trees to be planted in these watersheds,” said Gullas.
