Rolando Duero, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza’s executive secretary, said he ordered the closure of the six establishments for violating Section 9 of Lapu-Lapu City Ordinance 363-2006.
The ordinance regulates the operation, design, layout and construction of all Internet cafes and other establishments engaged in similar businesses in Lapu-Lapu City.
Other violators
Other internet cafes mentioned also violated the city’s Revenue Code by failing to secure a mayor’s permit.
The earliest this year is the closure of GS Internet Café, owned by Randy Gastador, in Barangay Ibo, back on Jan. 10, 2012.
Duero said he ordered a three-month suspension of Gastador’s business permit after a group of students were found inside his establishment during an inspection back on Jan. 9, 2012.
Another establishment owned by Hope Lopez of Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City had its business permit suspended on similar grounds.
Found
Duero said he found Lopez’s establishment allowing a student to use their facilities even during school hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., a clear violation of the said ordinance.
The inspection on Lopez’s establishment was conducted back on Jan. 3, 2012. The suspension was enforced two days later.
Three Internet cafes owned by Roufel Mahusay, Ambrosio dela Cruz and a certain Ben also had their establishments ordered closed for violating Ordinance No. 363-2006 and the city’s Revenue Code, for failure to secure a mayor’s permit.
