Mar talks about impeachment of Corona at PB league event

TRANSPORTATION Sec. Mar Roxas surprised delegates to the 7th Visayas Island Conference of the Provincial Board Members’ League of the Philippines (PBMLP) yesterday by talking about Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment.
With its theme on education and employment, the conference invited speakers to discuss how their agencies can help each province on these issues.

Roxas, in his keynote speech, said we need to have a stable and fair justice system to promote investor confidence so more jobs can be generated.
“This is not to persecute PGMA and Corona. It is a method of removing persons in office para ang tao hindi mag just tiis (so people will not suffer),” Roxas said.
As the conference discussed ways, policies and strategic partnership with Public Employment Service Office (Peso), Qatar businessmen are scheduled to see Gov. Gwen Garcia this week to discuss the need for 1,000 skilled workers in their country.
Bien Unido Mayor Niño Rey Boniel is making the arrangements.
The conference’s speakers included officials from the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and Roxas.
Local employment
The former trade secretary was invited to discuss the Peso “as a viable mechanism for local employment generation.”
After discussing the topic, he talked about the Corona impeachment, as part of of President Benigno Aquino III’s “matuwid na daan” program.
“This is not against the Constitution but rather the (President’s) pursuit for reforms,” Roxas said.
He said our country will have a chance to attract manufacturers who feel China’s rising labor costs.
In the open forum, a participant told Roxas that he failed to discuss his topic. Roxas told him he respects his view, but that he disagrees with him.
After Roxas, another speaker, Criselda Sy, director IV of Dole, discussed the Aquino administration’s programs in generating employment at the provincial level.
Another speaker, Tesda 7 Director Rosanna Urdaneta, discussed the topic “Interfacing for skills building, livelihood and employment generation: Tesda-Provincial council partnership.”
At the Capitol, Bohol Mayor Boniel met with Garcia and arranged a schedule for Quatar nationals to see her.
Boniel, one of the owners of Phil-Gulf Manpower Agency, an international recruitment agency, said companies in Qatar are looking for skilled workers for fabrication and manufacturing.
He also scheduled a courtesy call with Bohol Gov. Edgar Chato.
He said foreign companies are planning to recruit workers here and in Bohol.
