THE provincial governments of Cebu and Ilocos Norte will co-produce a movie about Pedro Calungsod, the soon-to-be Visayan saint.
The two provinces see this as a way of promoting Cebuanos and strengthening their sister-province relationship.

Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, who is involved in film production, is an investor of a software development firm here in Cebu that’s into creative industry design and animation.
“Maraming magagaling na (There are many good) animators here in Cebu,” Marcos said, adding there is a need to publicize Calungsod’s story.

Gov. Gwen Garcia, who had a closed-door meeting with Marcos yesterday, said the Capitol wants to co-produce the project with Marcos’s animated film outfit.
The two leaders also see the possibility of having a Cebuano cast.
“We know so little about his (Calungsod) life, only as a missionary in Guam and the heroic activity of a young Christian boy,” Marcos said.
“And we will be known as the home of a Cebuano saint,” Garcia said.
Marcos produced the film “Pinta Kasi,” which took home “best film” in the independent film category of the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival.
“Pinta Kasi” is an urban fairy tale told using mixed media.
