THE Beautiful Cebu Movement Foundation Inc. (BCMFI) will hold a masquerade ball on Feb. 29 to raise P10 million to finish the beautification of Osmeña Blvd. in Cebu City.
BCMFI head Mariquita Salimbangon-Yeung said the amount will cover the expenses for the sidewalks from Fuente Osmeña to Sanciangko St.

This forms part of the second half of the project.
Cooperation
Expenses for the first half, which was from the Capitol to Fuente Osmeña, were shouldered by the Cebu Provincial Government.
Yeung told a news conference yesterday that BCMFI has only finished beautifying one-fourth or 0.65 of the 2.6-kilometer stretch of Fuente Osmeña to Sanciangko St.
She said some establishments there wouldn’t cooperate in the beautification of the sidewalks.
Margie Lhuillier, co-chairperson of the BCMFI, said they have asked owners of the business establishments in the area to beautify the sidewalks in front of their buildings.
“Some of them are responsive but some are not,” she said.
Yeung said this is why they are organizing a fundraising event to finish the project.
The ball will be held on Feb. 29 at the Waterfront Cebu Hotel in Barangay Lahug in coordination with the Cebu City Government and Provincial Government.
“This is for a cause, for the beautification of Cebu. This is not for our selves, but for the whole city,” Yeung said.
Yeung is asking the City Government to deploy City Traffic Operation Management personnel on the sidewalks, particularly from Capitol to Fuente Osmeña.
She said owners of some business establishments there just park their vehicles on the sidewalks.
Yeung also appealed to the public to help them maintain the city’s sidewalks.
