A PUBLIC high school teacher was hacked by her husband, a member of the Philippine Navy, in Sitio Suba, Barangay Poblacion in Argao town last Monday night.
PO2 Von Tecson of Argao Police Station said the 40-year-old victim sustained injuries in her head and arms.
The victim is being treated in South General Hospital where she was declared out of harm’s way.
The suspect, 38, reportedly a petty officer 3 of Naval Forces Central (Navforcen), was arrested shortly after the incident.
He was sent to the psychiatric ward of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for allegedly suffering from a nervous breakdown.
Sun.Star Cebu withheld their names to protect the identity of the teacher, a public figure.
The incident happened past 9:30 p.m. inside the house of their relative while the couple was having a discussion.
The suspect reportedly asked his wife to reconcile with him.
The victim refused because he easily got jealous and if he’s not himself, he allegedly beat her up.
The suspect excused himself from the conversation supposedly to answer the call of nature.
When he came back, he was armed with a bolo and attacked his wife several times.
In a separate incident, two minors were wounded after they were strafed inside their house by unidentified assailants in Sitio Saksak, Barangay Abucayan in Balamban.
The victims – ages 17 and 20 – sustained gunshot wounds in the neck and stomach.
They were watching television last Monday when their house was strafed at 7:30 p.m.
SPO3 Arvie Banate of Balamban Police Station said the underage boys were accused of stealing chickens in the area.
The victims are confined in a hospital in Cebu City.
The police are investigating the case and are still trying to identify the suspects.
