CCPO prepares security plans for Calungsod

THE deployment of 500 Reserve Officers Training Course (ROTCs) cadets and police officers are among the security preparations set by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) for the National Thanksgiving Day of Blessed Pedro Calungsod in November.
This was discussed during the command conference of CCPO attended by different station heads last week.
CCPO Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe said they are planning the security as early as possible since over a million people are expected to attend the event.
“Different VIPs may be attending on this day, so it is just right that we plan ahead of time,” said Buenafe.
Buenafe said they are planning for the security of the religious procession and the thanksgiving program to be held at the South Road Properties (SRP).
He said that during their command conference, they divided the responsibilities among the station chiefs.
A hundred on-field police trainees may be deployed during the thanksgiving. Buenafe said they may add more personnel. He said they still need to discuss the preparation further.
He said they are also planning on the event’s parking concerns.
Buenafe said they will coordinate with the City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) regarding traffic control.
Blessed Pedro Calungsod will be canonized this October in the Vatican City.
