A 22-YEAR-OLD high school student was reportedly abducted by three unidentified men last Saturday and escaped.

Ryan (real name withheld), was able to escape from the kidnappers who abducted him twice in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

Together with his family, he went to the Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB) of the Cebu City Police Office to report the incident.

“Ingon sila (suspect) naa kuno koy atraso nila pero wala man gyud ko kaila nila (They said I did something that made them angry. But I don’t know them),” said Ryan.

He said he was mistaken for somebody else.

Ryan narrated that on June 11, he was abducted by three men on board a gray vehicle.
He said the three men looked like they were from a well-to-do family.

He said the suspects have fair skin and looked neat. He said the three called each other “brod.”

He said he was forced to board the vehicle while he was standing outside his school. Ryan is studying in one of the public schools in the city.

Wrong guy

He heard one of the suspects saying “Bay, dili man ni mao (This is not the one).” He was dropped off in Barangay Pardo, Cebu City later that day.

Ryan said that while he was in the vehicle, the three men also mauled him.

“I did not report to the police for fear they might get back at me and I was thinking they were just mistaken,” Ryan said in Bisaya.

But last Friday morning, while he was walking on his way to school, the three men, still boarding a gray vehicle, again picked him up.

“They pointed a gun at me and told me to get in the car,” said Ryan.

Ryan said he was mauled again inside the vehicle by the three men.

“I did not know where they brought me. They told me to pray since it would be my last day,” he said.

Ryan said he heard the suspects laughing. Then they told him he would pay for what he had done.

“Wala man gyud koy gibuhat nila, wala ko kahibaw nganung kaduha ko nila kidnapa (I didn’t do anything. I’m wondering why they had to kidnap me twice,” he said.

A 7 p.m. last Monday, Ryan escaped from his abductors. He said he rain into tall grass and bushes in Barangay Jubay, Liloan, Cebu.

He hid for two days and had no idea where he was.

“I don’t exactly know where they took me. I just found myself inside a private beach resort,” he said.

“While I was walking, I did not know it was a private resort. The security guard approached me and I asked for help from him. It was then that I knew I was in Liloan,”
said Ryan.

Bedraggled

Resort caretaker Martiniano Altamera said he noticed the boy sitting in a corner near the gate, trembling.

Security guard Rodrigo Dayagdal described Ryan as looking like he was afraid of someone.

His clothes were wet, his voice was weak and he was in tears, he said.

Dayagdal said Ryan told him he had not eaten in three days, so he gave him food and P40 so he can go home to Lahug.

Dayagdal turned him over to the barangay officials in Jubay.

The security guard called for help and was able to locate Ryan’s parents. He was
fetched at 12 a.m. yesterday in Liloan.

The IDMB is investigating the matter and now has information on what the three look like.

IDMB Chief Bonifacio Garciano said they will have to investigate using the victim’s statements.

He said they will check Ryan’s background, including school records.
