POLICE were kept busy for two hours responding to several shooting and stabbing incidents in Cebu City that left five men injured.
The first was a scrap buyer who was stabbed by his neighbor in Sitio Ufeva, Barangay Bulacao last Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
Leonito Tagutungan, 35, sustained a stab wound in the left part of his chest.
The suspect, who was only identified as a certain “Bobby,” remained at large.
Tagutungan was trying to collect the suspect’s P100 debt for a silver jewelry when the latter got irked and stabbed him once.
At midnight Sunday, a construction worker and a truck boy fell victim to a mauling incident at Gen. Maxilom Ave., Barangay Carreta.
John Paul Buot, 28, and Jessie Cabahug, 25, were walking on their way home after visiting their aunt when a man asked them where they lived.
Cabahug responded, but they were instead struck with a hard object. They tried to run. The suspect opened fire, but missed.
Treatment
The victims were brought to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) for suffering wounds in their face and head.
Police are conducting a follow-up operation to identify the suspect and the motive of the attack.
Thirty minutes later, a man was left in critical condition after he shot himself in the head in Sitio Maracas, Barangay Lahug.
Suicide
Before the incident, Henry Acido, 49, arrived home drunk and reportedly started nagging his live-in partner Clementina Esclamado, 37.
He complained of his health and family problems in front of their children. Esclamado tried to calm him down, but Acido started to throw things.
At the height of their argument, Acido pulled out a .38 revolver and pulled the trigger. He fell on the floor and was rushed to the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital where he’s confined.
At the same time, a taxi driver was stabbed by his neighbor in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Kinasang-an.
Roel Pritos, 40, was sleeping on a bamboo bed when a certain “Jose Ranola” attacked him.
He was hit on the left part of his chest and finger. He tried to chase the suspect, to no avail.
Police learned that the suspect reportedly harbored ill feelings against the victim for scolding him during a mahjong game. ( Intern, June Paulette G. Eclipse, SWU Masscomm Intern)
