A CONSTRUCTION worker was killed by an on-duty police officer in a shootout in Barangay Banban, Bogo City, Cebu at dawn yesterday.
PO3 Allan Dosdos, lead investigator of Bogo City Police Station, identified the fatality as Stephen Tulo, 23.
PO1 Gil Olivar, who was assigned in Banban Police Substation, surrendered.
The incident happened at 3:20 a.m. in Sitio Liloy.
Olivar was tailing a couple on board his motorcycle when two men on another motorcycle allegedly fired at Joseph and Henalyn Gesta.
Tulo shot Olivar. The bullet hit Olivar’s gun holster.
Olivar pulled his .45 pistol and fired four shots.
Tulo was hit and fell.
The policeman brought the suspect to the hospital, but he didn’t make it there alive.
A .38 revolver with four bullets was recovered from Tulo. Three empty shells of .45 pistol were recovered in the crime scene.
Dosdos said the six men came from a fiesta celebration in the area and paid late for the liquor they drank.
“Basta mahubog lagi ka, bisag unsa nalang imong buhaton,” Dosdos said.
Two of the suspect’s companions went to the police to report the incident and admitted being involved in the shooting, Dosdos said.
“We will file complaints of conspiracy against them,” Dosdos said.
