Council asks Tomas, Cutie to help fund infra projects

BUDGET constraints of the Cebu City Government have prompted the City Council to seek the help of Rep. Rachel Del Mar (north district) and Rep. Tomas Osmeña (south district) in allocating funds for P320.4 million in infrastructure projects that will benefit three mountain barangays in the city.
In a resolution by Councilor Alvin Arcilla, the amount will cover the construction of a P67.5-million bridge from Barangays Talamban to Bacayan.
The bridge, which will be 100 meters long and 20 meters wide when completed, will complement the road widening project from the sports complex of Talamban to Sitio Centro in Barangay Pit-os.
If plans push through, the construction of the bridge as based on the assessment of the City’s Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW) will take 670 calendar days.
Aside from this, the amount will also cover the construction of a concrete pavement with drainage, sidewalk, curb and gutter along the whole stretch of the road from the sports complex to Pit-os.
Cost
The project, which will be 3,200 meters long and 20 meters wide, reportedly will cost P252,953,250. It will also complement the road widening project in the area.
Once funding is secured, the project’s implementation will take 1,070 calendar days, DEPW said.
“In consideration of the City’s financial constraints, it would be sensible to seek assistance for funding from the National Government through del Mar and Osmeña, so the projects will come to fruition,” said Councilor Arcilla in his resolution.
Arcilla’s resolution was approved by the Council during their regular session last week.
Both Del Mar and Osmeña will be furnished copies of the resolution for their information and action.
