FOUR persons committed suicide in the past two days.
In their initial investigation on the separate incidents, the police dismissed the possibility of foul play.
Two of those who committed suicide—50-year-old Marissa Ott and Noel Hilacan—were known to be suffering from diseases.
SPO1 Simplicio Gibo, desk officer of Carmen Police Station, said Ott was found dead inside her house in Barangay Luyang, Carmen, Cebu late Monday afternoon.
Gibo said Ott’s brother, Melvin Butlig, told the police his sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
Ott did not leave a suicide note.
Gibo said Ott lived alone as she got separated from her German national husband.
In Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City, Hilacan’s body was found hanging from the ceiling by his sister-in-law Nida, 43.
Nida said Noel is suffering from various diseases, including diabetes and
hypertension.
Operatives of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office did not find any signs of struggle inside Noel’s room to indicate foul play.
At 5:30 a.m. on the same day, Manuelito Deriquito, 78, was found dead in an abandoned school in Barangay Bato, Danao City, Cebu.
A curtain was tied around Deriquito's neck.
In Barangay Panadtaran, San Fernando last Sunday, Jhonny Generans, 32, was found dead, kneeling with a rope around his neck.
SPO2 Victor Cuyno, desk officer of San Fernando Police Station, said Generans was having drinks with neighbors during his sister’s birthday party and announced he will kill himself.
Generans recently got separated from his live-in partner, Cuyno said.
