THE Provincial Government expects to earn around P273.424 million from the sale of provincial lots in Metro Cebu after it signed a memorandum of agreement with 14 homeowners’ associations.
The occasion was witnessed by Vice President Jejomar Binay, who heads the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).
Twelve of the homeowners’ associations are covered by the expired 93-1 ordinance, while the other two are the Actual Occupants and Residents Oprra Kalunasan Inc. headed by Jack Rallos in Kalunasan, Cebu City and the Sugbo-GK Village Homeowners’ Association Inc. headed by Claudia Waskin in Tunghaan, Minglanilla.
85 percent resolved
The 12 associations are the Capitol Site Homeowners, Railway Station Homeowners Association Inc., Lesdom Homeowners, San Miguel Homeowners, Mabolo Homeowners, Lot 1432 Homeowners, Lot 1433 Homeowners, Sitio Agay-ay Urban Development Resident Association, Kasambagan Riverside Homeowners, Lot 1330 and Lot 1331 Homeowners and the Hilltop Nivel Hills Lot 1405 Homeowners.
Binay said 85 percent of properties covered by the 93-1 ordinance has been resolved under the administration of Gov. Gwen Garcia.
“Today will certainly be a day you should never forget considering that unlike in the past you were merely possessors of the property and always endangered by the probability that you might be removed from your possession. Today, you are now lot owners of that property,” Binay said.
The financing institutions under HUDCC will help the families with the payment through the Community Mortgage Program (CMP).
These include the Home Mutual Development Fund or Pag-ibig, the Socialized Housing Finance Corp. and the National Housing Authority.
In the MOA, the Province agreed to sell, transfer and convey to the different homeowners’ associations the provincial lots their members occupy and the latter agreed to buy the lots per square meter.
Garcia said before her last term ends, she will resolve the 93-1 issue.
“Kay minaayo ang atong intensyon, ang Kahitas-an nihatag gayud kanato sa paagi nga angay natong sundon (Because our intention is good, the Almighty gave us a way that we should follow),” she said.
The governor thanked Binay for his help in resolving the matter.
The governor also thanked Provincial Board Member Alex Binghay, who sponsored a resolution that authorized her to sign the MOA in behalf of the Province.
Garcia had announced she will run for the Senate in next year’s elections under the United Nationalist Alliance headed by Binay.
Meanwhile, Binay awarded the transfer certificate of titles to 38 individuals under the Socialized Housing Finance Corp. as part of the CMP.
Also present in yesterday’s MOA signing at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City were Rep. Pablo John Garcia (Cebu, 3rd district), former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV, former senator Miguel Zubiri and Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano Jr.
