A TOTAL of P248.6 million in roads and bridges will be built and repaired in the second district in Cebu.
Of the sum, P202.4 million is allotted for arterial and secondary roads in the area, according to records at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The DPWH said the projects were facilitated by Rep. Pablo Garcia (Cebu, second district) and form part of the 2012 infrastructure program of the National Government.
Engineer Lea Negre of the DPWH 7 planning division said most of the projects will be located at the Cebu South Road, Santander-Barili-Toledo Road, Argao-Moalboal Road and the Dalaguete-Mantalongon-Badian Road.
The DPWH will also implement the rehabilitation of national roads and bridges with a budget of P23.955 million.
Garcia told Sun.Star Cebu that the projects were part of the list he had included in the national budget.
Garcia said the projects do not include the undertakings funded by his P70-million Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
“Time will come that all the roads in my district will be cemented,” Garcia said.
Garcia said he also plans to submit proposals for farm-to-market roads worth P20 million for inclusion in Department of Agriculture (DA) budget for 2013.
He said farmers in remote barangays need roads so they can bring their products to Metro Cebu.
