Closure of access road in Camp 4, Talisay proposed

TALISAY City Vice Mayor Alan Bucao has proposed to temporarily implement the closure of the Talisay-Toledo Wharf Access Road following the series of landslides that occurred in the mountain barangay of Camp 4.
Bucao said this is to avoid casualties, especially the public utility vehicles (PUVs) that passed by road.
He said that Engr. Daisy Toledo of the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) second engineering district spoke with him yesterday about the letter he sent last Tuesday on the possibility of the road closure.
Bucao said Toledo told him that they cannot stop the road widening project in the area because their subcontractor, QM Builders, has assured to clear the debris left by the
landslides.
With the DPWH bent on finishing the project, Bucao said, he will ask Mayor Socrates Fernandez to issue an executive order preventing PUVs from passing the area.
Bucao, chairman of the City of Talisay-Traffic Operation Development Authority, said he directed his staff to check with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board if the Talisay-Toledo Wharf Access Road is included in the travel line of PUVs plying the route from Cebu City to Lutopan-Toledo.
If the access road is not included in the travel line, Bucao said, Fernandez can issue a decree preventing PUVs, particularly V-hires, from passing the access road.
