OVER 9,000 household leaders, barangay tanods, health and day care workers, barangay captains and municipal officials of Dumanjug took their oath as members of One Cebu Party yesterday.

Gov. Gwen Garcia led the mass oath-taking, which was held at the Josefa Paras-Garcia Heritage Park in Barangay Poblacion.

The governor was accompanied by her father Rep. Pablo Garcia (second district), her brother Rep. Pablo John Garcia (third district) and former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV. Her brother Nelson, Dumanjug’s mayor, was also with them.

In his speech, Congressman Pablo said he hopes the next governor will also come from Dumanjug, the Garcia family’s hometown.

He said he hopes Pablo John will succeed Gwen, who is on her last term.

The Garcia patriarch said he and Pablo John will continue the projects that Gwen has initiated.

One Cebu is fielding Pablo John as its candidate for governor in next year’s elections, with Durano as his runningmate.

Financial aid

They will be up against lawyer Hilario “Junjun” Davide III of the Liberal Party and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, respectively.

In Pinamungajan, 16 barangays received financial assistance worth P1.045 million from the Capitol and the Priority Development Assistance Fund (Pdaf) of Congressman Pablo John.

The distribution of the checks took place inside the Barangay Mangoto Gym.

The Lamac National High School also received two computers, an air-conditioner and 60 monoblock chairs.

The governor, in her speech, asked the crowd to support her bid for the third district congressional seat, saying she opted to run for Congress instead of the Senate because she believes she has to protect the productivity that Cebu has achieved.

Mangoto Barangay Captain Julius Alpas, in behalf of 12 of the 26 barangay captains, expressed support for the governor, Pablo John, Durano and Zambo, who will seek reelection.
