CORDOVA Vice Mayor Rodrigo Jumao-as, who will run for mayor under the One Cebu Party, filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) yesterday morning.
Jumao-as, his candidate for vice mayor, Victo Tago III, and his six candidates for councilors filed their COCs at 8:49 a.m.
A few minutes earlier, businessman Johnson Tan Jr. also filed a COC for mayor of Cordova.
Last Thursday, boxing promoter Rex “Wakee” Salud filed his COC for mayor, even though
the court declared that he is not a resident of Cordova.
Mayor Adelino Sitoy, who filed his COC last Monday, has threatened to ask the court to cite Salud in contempt for filing a COC despite the court ruling.
Earlier, Salud’s lawyer, Magnificos Cañete, said they would file a motion for reconsideration at the Regional Trial Court.
Cañete said Salud cannot be cited in contempt because there was no court order preventing the boxing promoter from filing his COC.
Last Thursday afternoon, lawyer Leighna Katrina Sitoy-Abarquez, the daughter of Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy, filed her COC for vice mayor under the Liberal Party.
Earlier, PB Member Sitoy announced that Abarquez will run for mayor of Cordova.
Mayor Sitoy recently left the One Cebu Party in favor the Liberal Party.
