SO they can implement more projects, Barangay Apas is seeking bigger financial assistance from the Cebu City Government.

During his state of the barangay address yesterday, Apas Barangay Captain Ramil Ayuman said they hope the current P6.8-million financial assistance from the City will be raised to P10-million by next year.

Ayuman said Mayor Michael Rama has promised them, as well as to the other city villages, an increase of the barangay’s annual cash assistance by 2013.

“I hope madayon na,” he said.

Once granted, the cash aid will be used by the barangay to implement projects that have not been implemented in the previous years, particularly last year and in 2010, Ayuman said.

Pending projects

Among the pending projects are concreting and drainage works in interior areas, construction of pathways, and installation of fire hydrants in strategic areas.

Ayuman said that apart from the cash assistance by the City, they hope to implement more projects for their constituents with the possible increase of their yearly income by next year.

Ayuman reported yesterday that the revenues generated in their barangay continuously increases because of the presence of commercial establishments and the construction of more commercial establishments in their area.

Ayuman disclosed that before the year ends, Filinvest Land Inc. will start their condominium project at the lot previously occupied by the Cebu City Treatment and Rehabilitation Center.

Ayuman pointed out that in 2002, Apas’s income was only P3-million, but this year, their income is P15 million.

“Muabot ang katuigan nga ang Apas usa na ka-commercial hub (Time will come when Apas will be a commercial hub),” he said.

By 2014, Ayuman said they are targeting to make Apas the cleanest, greenest and most livable barangay among the 80 barangays of the city.
