THE new commander of the Naval Forces Central (Navforcen) paid a courtesy call on Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.
Navforcen Commodore Leopoldo Alano, brother of Central Command Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano, told the governor the Navy will support the province’s campaign for security, environment protection and national development.
Alano was accompanied by his staff when he visited the governor’s office.
He said they are willing to be involved in the activities of the Province.
For environment protection, Navforcen is a member of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force.
“We really support the plans and programs of the good governor and the Provincial Government of Cebu,” Alano said in an interview.
He said the Navforcen will ensure the security of the Province, in coordination with the Central Command.
“I would just like to assure the residents of the Province of Cebu that our navy here, the Naval Forces Central, is very supportive of the local government’s project to ensure that we will be able to have a secure environment,” Alano said.
Alano, former commander of Naval Base Cavite, assumed the Navforcen post from former Navforcen Commodore Roberto Santos, who is now the head of the Naval Sea Systems Command of the Philippine.
