AQUILINO Juntong Jr., 20, sustained two gunshot wounds and didn’t make it alive to the hospital.
PO3 Cesar Climaco of Asturias Police Station identified the other victims as Carmina Apor and Joseph Casiban. Both are of legal age.
The suspect, Manuel Arcilla, 34, surrendered to police last Sunday afternoon. He will face criminal charges for homicide and frustrated homicide.
Climaco told Sun.Star Cebu the incident happened past 11 p.m. when the suspect tried to pacify a fight, but was instead attacked by Casiban.
This prompted Arcilla to pull out his .45 pistol and opened fire. Casiban was hit in the abdomen.
Juntong, on the other hand, was accidentally shot in the waist and right leg, while Apor was hit in the right thigh. They were brought to the Balamban District Hospital.
Fistfight
Before the incident, Casiban was involved in a fistfight and was told by the barangay tanod to leave the area.
While they were outside, Casiban resisted the prodding of the other barangay tanods and went back inside. Casiban then punched Arcilla, who fell hard into the ground.
Three empty shells of .45 pistol were recovered by police in the crime scene.
“Nibawos ra gyud ‘to siya kay gi-unhan man,” the police officer said.
Talisay
Meanwhile, in Talisay City, a construction worker was stabbed dead by his neighbor while celebrating his birthday last Sunday.
Homicide investigators believed that victim Prumencio Anzale may have been stabbed after he refused to provide money to buy drinks for Eric Reyes, 29.
Anzale, who works for an ongoing construction project in the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City, invited his friends and co-workers to celebrate his birthday last Sunday.
Anzale, a native of Paranaque City in Manila, brought his companions to his house in Sitio Sawsawan, Barangay Tanke in Talisay City where they had a drinking session there.
At around 1 p.m. of that day, Reyes, who is Anzale’s neighbor, visited the victim and asked money from him to buy some drinks for himself and his friends.
But Anzale refused Reyes’s request, which irked the suspect. Using a 12-inch knife, Reyes stabbed Anzale several times, hitting him mostly on the chest.
A wounded Anzale was brought to the Talisay District Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
An alert team led by PO3 Achilles Cabando immediately arrested Reyes, who voluntarily surrendered to the policemen. It was during interrogation that Reyes confessed to the crime.
