CEBU Provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) President Aladdin Caminero was wounded in a vehicular accident in Barangay Binlod, Argao, Cebu, early Friday morning.

PO2 Marvin Chin of the Argao Police Station told Sun.Star Cebu that Caminero was driving a black Ford Everest (YER604) on his way to Barangay Talo-ot at 6:50 a.m. when he sideswiped 13-year-old Christian Zamora, who was walking on the side of the road.

Caminero swerved and hit a silver Hyundai Starex van (GLC270) that was about to park.

Caminero lost control of his mid-size sports utility vehicle and rammed into a tree.

The SK leader, his three passengers and Zamora were rushed to the town's hospital but they were later transferred to the South General Hospital in the City of Naga.

Broken bones

Aladin’s sister, Amily Caminero, said the SK leader has a fractured thigh bone and left wrist, and suffered a head injury.

Amily said her brother’s condition is stable. Doctors do not expect his head injury to worsen, she added.

But she said he will undergo surgery for his fractured bones and will remain under observation inside the intensive care unit.

Zamora, on the other hand, complained of back pains but his x-ray results showed no injury.

Still, the boy and Aladdin’s passengers will be in the hospital for observation.

No charges

Chin identified Caminero's passengers as Michael Vincent Mansueto, 22; Clint Bryan Pelayo, 26; and Joal Mendoza, 22.

The owner of the Starex van, Celrick Paul Redonia, reportedly declined to file charges against Caminero, saying his vehicle suffered only a scratch.

Alladin’s father Provincial Board Member Wilfredo Caminero said his son and friends were on the way to the family’s farm in Barangay Talo-ot.

Meanwhile, a man died while two others were injured after their motorcycles collided in Barangay 8, Tuburan, Cebu last Thursday.

Vicente Matugas, 22, died before reaching a hospital in Cebu City, said SPO1 Edsel Condevillamor of the Tuburan Police Station.

Matugas was trying to overtake a vehicle around 1:35 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with the motorbike of Luciano Eden, who was driving on the opposite lane.

Vendor

Both drivers and Matugas’ rider were injured, but Matugas’ injuries were worse.

Around the same time in Barangay Poblacion, Boljoon, a vegetable vendor was hit by a man on a motorcycle.

Liezel Lacatarya, 25, of Barangay Lamacan, Sibonga was standing beside the road near the public market when the incident occurred.

PO2 Rogelio Sinajon of Boljoon Police Station told Sun.Star Cebu that the motorcycle was driven by Sherwin Mequizo, 19, a resident of Barangay Lunop, Boljoon.

Mequizo fled after the incident and is still at large. Police will file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury against Mequizo.

Lacatarya was brought to a hospital in Cebu City where she is reportedly in stable condition, Sinajon said. (DSM/OCP/Sun.Star Cebu)
