Traffic to be rerouted for launching parade

THE Cebu City Traffic Operations Management (Citom) advised motorists to follow rerouting signs today as the city kicks off the Sinulog 2013 celebration.
Citom executive director Atty. Rafael Yap said vehicular traffic from the main entrance of the Basilica del Sto. Niño on Osmeña Blvd. to the Fuente Osmeña Rotunda will be affected in today’s launching parade.
Rerouting will start at 2 p.m. until the activity is finished, he said.
Detour
In their two-page traffic advisory, Citom said passenger jeepneys from the Capitol and Lahug that pass Osmeña Blvd. to Fuente Osmeña will turn right turn on B. Rodriguez St., left on V. Rama Ave, proceed to V. Rama Ext. and to their destination.
Jeepneys from the Carbon area will turn left on F. Gonzales St., left on Magallanes St., right on Borromeo St., left on Sanciangko St., right on Panganiban St., left on N. Bacalso Ave., right on V. Rama Ave., before proceeding to their destinations.
Jeepneys from Banawa and Guadalupe will use V. Rama Ave., turn right on Katipunan St., left on A. Lopez St., straight on Tres de Abril St., right on Carlock St., left on Tupas St., straight on Magallanes St., then proceed to the Carbon area.
On their way back, the jeepneys will take the same route used by jeepneys from the Capitol and Lahug.
Jeepneys from Lahug that pass Gen. Maxilom Ave will turn right on F. Ramos St., right on Junquera St., left on Colon St., left on D. Jakosalem St., then proceed to their point of origin.
Citom said 14D jeepneys will use N. Escario St., turn left on Juana Osmeña St., right on Gen. Maxilom Ave., left on F. Ramos St., right on Junquera St., left on Colon St., right on Mabini St., right on V. Gullas St., right on Legaspi St. then straight on Pelaez St., right on P. del Rosario St., left on D. Jakosalem St., right on F. Ramos St. and proceed to Juana Osmeña St., then to their point of origin.
Jeepneys from Talamban that pass Junquera St./F. Ramos St., will take Sikatuna St. all the way to Mabini St., turn right on V. Gullas St., right on D. Jakosalem St. then back to their usual route.
Talamban jeepneys that pass Sikatuna St. will turn right on Colon St., right on D. Jakosalem St., then to their point of origin.
Jeepneys from Basak Pardo, Labangon, Inayawan, Urgello, Mabolo and Mandaue City and those bound for SM City Cebu and the North Bus Terminal have also been rerouted.
“Motorist, drivers, and other road users are advised to follow the traffic signs installed on the re-routing areas to minimize traffic congestion,” Yap said.
