Boy, 4, dies in road mishap

A FOUR-year-old boy was killed while his parents and two siblings were injured in a hit-and-run incident in Talisay City last Monday night.
Niño Gondino was riding a trisikad with his family on their way home to Barangay Inayawan in Cebu City at 11:30 p.m. when they were hit by a black vehicle. The impact caused the trisikad to be be thrown off the gutter.
Instead of stopping, the black vehicle sped toward Cebu City.
The driver of an ambulance of the San Fernando Municipal Government saw the family and brought them to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Niño, however, died before reaching the hospital.
The kid’s father Rony, 44; his mother Elvie,44; and his two siblings Erika Mae, seven, and one-year-old Faith suffered minor injuries.
SPO4 Cleopas Bonjoc, chief of the Talisay City Traffic Division, said several witnesses came up but they gave conflicting accounts of the incident.
As of press time yesterday, it was not clear what type of vehicle hit the Gondinos.
Also on Monday, a man on a motorcycle died after being hit by a car that was allegedly trying to pass him.
Ronilo Barnes, 33, died before arriving at the Talisay City District Hospital.
He suffered head injuries after the Honda Civic driven by Marion Villarmia hit his motorcycle.
The car and the motorcycle were headed toward Talisay City.
“Mochange lane unta ni si Villarmia, pero pag attempt niya og change lane naigo na nuon ning gamotor (Villarmia tried to change lanes and hit Barnes),” SPO1 Filomeno Vikeso, Cebu City traffic investigator, told Sun.Star Cebu.
Villarmia surrendered to the authorities after the incident.
A case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide will be filed against Villarmia.
