Odilao receives ‘death threats’

THE “Father of the Sinulog Festival,” retired customs district collector David Odilao Jr., is reportedly being targeted by members of a party list group, of which he is formerly a member.
Odilao, in an interview with reporters, said he has received death threats from alleged supporters of the Alliance of Nationalism and Democracy (Anad) party-list headed by Rep. Pastor “Jun” Alcover Jr.
But Alcover, in a separate interview, said Odilao’s allegation is an old issue.
“He’s hallucinating…that’s a very old issue,” Alcover said in a text message to Sun.Star Cebu.
Odilao said he recently received a text message believed to have been sent to him by an irate Anad supporter.
The text message blamed Odilao for the disqualification of the Anad in the elections and said Odilao must die.
Odilao said the text message was sent to him by a former colleague in the Anad party-list.
The 75-year-old retired customs district collector was formerly a member of the anti-communist party-list before 2010, when he and Alcover had a falling out due to party matters.
After receiving the threatening text message, Odilao immediately had the matter reported to the Talisay City Police Station.
He said that since he left Anad, he has been getting numerous death threats.
Odilao said he is only waiting for the right time before filing charges against those issue threats against him.
Alcover denied he or his supporters were behind the threats against Odilao.
Alcover said Odilao was just looking for issues against him and his party.
