Spic-and-span PRO 7 headquarters lauded

POLICE Regional Office (PRO) 7 received early praises for its facilities after an inspecting team from Camp Crame noticed its improvement yesterday during the annual general inspection.
"Napakaganda ng kampo nila. Lahat ng offices na-renovate. Ang mga comfort rooms rin para kang nasa hotel (They have a beautiful camp. All their offices were renovated.
Their comfort rooms are like those in hotels)," said Chief Supt. Sonny Cunanan, who headed the inspecting team.
The Annual General Inspection-Operational Readiness, Security Inspection Test and Evaluation (AGI-ORSITE) is an annual activity of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that assesses both the administration and operational matters of police units nationwide.
"There were defects noticed last year. We hope there were actions taken to correct them," Cunanan said.
Gauge
The inspection will serve as gauge by which the organization can advance its capability and effectiveness in matters needing police interventions.
Cunanan said the week-long inspection will consist of actual simulation exercises on police procedures on several probable scenarios to evaluate their basic knowledge and skills during contingencies and police interventions.
A written examination will also be given to selected police commissioned officers and police non-commissioned officers to test their knowledge on general information, integrated transformation program and the PNP patrol plan.
Morale booster
PRO-7 Director Marcelo Garbo Jr. said the facility improvement was intended to improve the moral of the policemen and to project to the community that they have a good police force.
When asked if PRO-7 has a good chance in grabbing the award as best regional police office, he believed they deserved it.
"There are a lot of best practices here that were adopted as priority programs," Garbo said.
However, he said they still have a lot of catching up in terms of equipment capabilities.
"It definitely affects our operation, but we're improving it through the help of the business sector," Garbo said.
Under his watch, he said he wanted to change the behavior of policemen in responding to crimes.
"Kahit anong galing ng equipment o programa mo, kung attitude ng police ay tamad, walang mangyayari (NO matter how good your equipment or program is, if the policemen's attitude is lazy, nothing will happen)," Garbo said.
