Police: Stop sharing that sex video

CEBU CITY – As the video of two college students having sex continues to spread, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Central Visayas offered to investigate and help stop the video from circulating.

“If this girl will ask for justice sa pagkaguba sa iyang pagkatao ug sa iyang pagkababaye tungod aning scandal (for how this scandal has harmed her), we will be more than willing to help. This will also teach a lesson to others not to do such an act,” said Eddie Benigay, CIDG Central Visayas director.

Benigay, in an interview with reporters on Tuesday, said the man involved in the video might also be made to face charges for allegedly spreading the file. Copies of the three-part video have reportedly found their way to pirated DVDs and are also circulated by mobile phones.

The police, said Benigay, received reports that the man’s phone was repaired by a cell phone shop, which may have also uploaded the video.

“If that is true, then he will have to show documents or evidences to show that he was not the one who uploaded it,” added Benigay.

The video, allegedly shot two years ago, shows two students having sex. In one clip, the girl wears her college uniform and ID.

Students of that university were reportedly instructed by the school’s administration not to wear their uniforms starting Tuesday, to keep them from being bullied or embarrassed.

“We were told not to wear uniforms until further notice. One of our schoolmates was bullied by someone from another school because of the scandal,” one of the students told Sun.Star Cebu.

Benigay added that a case for violating Republic Act (RA) 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 can be filed against the man involved in the video, depending on their investigation.

“But the question is if the girl is willing to file a case,” said Benigay.

He admitted the CIDG Central Visayas has no capability yet of tracing who might have uploaded the video, but said they can help prevent its further circulation.

“To those who have a copy of the video in their mobile phones, just keep it or better erase it. Do not spread it,” appealed Benigay. (JBT of Sun.Star Cebu)
