Blaze hurts 4, hits 10 houses

TEN houses were razed in a fire that broke out in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City last night.
At least four people were reportedly injured, said FO3 Lowel Opolentisima of the Cebu City Fire Department.
“Their injuries were slight. Some had difficulty breathing,” he said. The names of those injured could not be confirmed as of press time.
Opolentisima said they received the alarm at 7:32 p.m. and controlled the fire after 24 minutes.
By then, however, the houses made of light materials were already gutted by flames.
“Mao daghan ang nasunog dayon. Mga karaan na sad mga balaya (The houses burned quickly; most were old),” Opolentisima said.
The fire was raised to a general alarm, which meant that all fire brigades in the city were required to help in the operation.
But because the fire occurred in the interior portion, the firefighters had a hard time reaching the area and had to make do with
connecting their hoses.
Investigators have yet to find out how the fire started and how much the property damaged was worth.
