SANGGUNIANG Kabataan leaders and members in the different towns and cities should be vigilant when politicians ask for their support.
Cebu Provincial SK leader Aladdin Caminero admitted that some politicians have approached his colleagues for support in the May elections.
The 19-year-old said that whenever SK leaders in the Province convene he always encourages them to vote for the person they think is right for the position.
He said he advised his colleagues to be wise and pick whoever they want.
“Bata pa gani, bag-o pa gani mi nga year makabotar isunod dayon sa pulitikong kinaraan (We are all political neophytes and we are all first-time voters yet they want to introduce us to traditional politics),” he said.
Most of the SK leaders are either 18 or 19 years old and will be voting for the first time in May.
Political reality
Caminero said SK members cannot avoid being approached by politicians in the municipal level, but he said none of the provincial candidates have gotten close to the group.
“It depends on them (SK leaders and members) and I gave them the freedom (to choose),” he said.
Caminero said they held the SK National Congress in Boracay last Feb. 9.
He said they did not discuss poll-related issues
Cebu Provincial Election Supervisor Eddie Aba said they will be monitoring everyone involved in the election to make sure they act in accordance to the rules of the Commission on Elections.
