CONSOLACION Mayor Teresa Alegado will file perjury charges against the four town councilors who accused her and 15 other officials of demolishing the structure, which was supposedly built in the first phase of the municipal hall project in Sitio Laray, Barangay Nangka.
Consolacion municipal legal officer Christian Bacus said it was not true that the Municipal Government, led by the mayor, demolished the project’s structure.
He said there was no order for demolition from the mayor or from his office.
He said Mayor Alegado decided not to continue the municipal hall project of former mayor Avelino Gungob because there was no proper turnover of documents pertaining to the undertaking.
Gungob earlier said he turned over the documents related to the project to the municipal engineering office.
But Bacus said the former mayor should have turned over the documents to his successor, Alegado. Had there been a proper turnover, Alegado could have signed a document signifying her commitment to continue the projects.
Bacus challenged the four councilors and the former mayor to produce the documents.
Alegado and Gungob will compete for the mayoral seat in the May elections.
Alegado earlier said she will not continue Gungob’s projects.
Under Alegado’s administration, the Municipal Government is planning to convert the sports complex in Barangay Poblacion-Oriental into the municipal hall’s extension.
The project is still in the bidding phase.
