THE Province of Cebu distributed the honorariums for barangay tanods, health workers, nutrition scholars and daycare workers to the municipalities of Camotes Islands yesterday.
Camotes was in the final list for distribution of cash gifts.
Evelyn Senajon, head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, said the Province distributed a total of P48 million.
Pilar, Tudela and Poro were first recipients. Today will be San Francisco town’s turn.
The first distribution happened in the town of Pilar in Cawit Barangay Hall.
Pilar Mayor Jesus “Jet” Fernandez and acting Gov. Agnes Magpale delivered their messages to the recipients.
A table was placed beside the barangay hall under a tree where the barangay workers lined up to get their cash gifts.
“Wa gyud sya’y ingon nga naa pay programa. I-welcome lang ni mayor… Unya si Ma’am mo-welcome lang nila (There is no program. The mayor and acting governor simply gave short messages),” Senajon said.
Amount
Barangay health workers (BHW), nutrition scholars and day care workers received P2,400, while health aides and tanods received P1,500.
Vivian Durangparang from the Integrated Provincial Health Office reminded them that under a Department of Interior and Local Government memorandum circular, a barangay worker should not be beyond 60 years old.
Those who were above 60 years old were not able to receive an honorarium.
There are 20 tanods and one day care worker per barangay. There is one BHW for every 20 families in a village.
Last March 13 and 14, the honorariums were also distributed in Bantayan Island.
Distribution
The distribution started on Feb. 28 in Bogo City.
Senajon said they first visited the towns in the north, then south and then to the islands.
Gubernatorila candidaye Davide III before the event, did a handshaking to the residents of Tudela and Pilar.
They met with Magpale in Barangay Cawit.
He moved out when the distribution started.
Davide said he doesn’t want to join Capitol events like check distributions.
Davide went to Barangay Puertobello in Tudela as people were gathered for the market day.
He met and greeted the people there before he went to Pilar.
