A BOY was killed when he was run over on the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) in Talisay City last Monday.
The victim, who was identified as 12-year-old John Larry Talabo, was crossing the highway in Barangay San Roque when he was hit by a black Isuzu Trooper driven by 18-year-old Philip Joel Pasaol around 6 p.m.
Pasaol reportedly fled the scene, but he surrendered to police hours later.
PO3 Henry Diano of the Talisay City Traffic Division told reporters that Talabo and his friends were playing ball by the roadside before the accident.
Diano said they were able to identify Pasaol through his vehicle’s plate number that fell as a result of the impact.
As for Talabo, he was rushed to the Talisay City District Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Surrender
A traffic enforcer who witnessed the accident said he tried to stop Pasaol, but the latter sped off.
Pasaol arrived at the Talisay City Traffic Division around 10 p.m. He was accompanied by Insp. Rex Campos of the Cebu City Mobile Patrol Group.
Pasaol, a resident of Borbon, Cebu, told reporters he left the scene because he was afraid bystanders in the area would maul him.
He said that after the accident, he went to his boarding house and sought the help of his board mate, whose uncle happens to be Campos.
