Magpale: Improve existing hospitals-A A +A
Monday, April 22, 2013
CEBU Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale believes Capitol should improve the provincial hospitals it has now rather than building new ones.
She said the Province's three hospitals should have new equipment, surgeons and complete personnel.
There is one provincial hospital under construction each in Danao City and Balamban. Another provincial hospital is in Carcar City.
It's useless to build more hospitals only to fail in providing them with equipment and personnel, she said.
Magpale said that even if the hospitals are strategically located, the patients will still be transferred to Cebu City for lack of equipment.
She said the hospital chief should be a surgeon and should be competent.
Provincial Engineer officer-in-charge Hector Jamora said the provincial hospitals in Danao City and Balamban will be completed before the present administration's term ends.
In Danao, the right wing of the hospital is now operational.
Jamora said there are patients confined there now.
A contractor from Bacolod is finishing the ground works.
Integrated Provincial Health Office head Cristina Giango said the medical and dental laboratory equipment from three suppliers, which will soon sign a contract between the Provincial Government, are for the hospital in Danao.
Earlier, the Provincial Board deferred three resolutions authorizing Magpale to sign contracts worth P3.2 million for various medical and dental equipment.
