THE Integrated Provincial Health Office recommended to Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III that Dr. Jatuporn Vatanagul, the physician who allegedly did not sufficiently attend
to the drowned victim in Tuburan, will be transferred to another district hospital.
Davide said Vatanagul is relieved from his service in Tuburan District Hospital.
Dr. Cynthia Genosolango, Ipho officer-in-charge, explained that instead of retaining him in Tuburan he may be assigned to another district hospital.
“One of our recommendations is for him not to go on duty yet at the Tuburan District Hospital, but we need the services of doctors like them who have the necessary
training and the proper attitude,” Genosolango said.
Earlier, Davide announced the relief of Vatanagul, who was the doctor-on-duty when a three-year-old boy was admitted after he drowned in the seawaters near their house last Sunday. The boy eventually died in the hospital.
“As far as we are concerned in the health practice, there was no gross negligence that was committed,” said Genosolango.
Genosolango also recommended to the governor to study the matter closely.
She said the provincial legal officer is also studying the incident for further investigation.
Vatanagul may have been busy at that time, but his background and the feedback from the hospital staff, the doctor has a good standing, the IPHO head explained.
Genosolango requested the outsourced service provider to show them the list of the doctors who are currently on duty at the Province’s district hospitals so that they can choose who will replace Vatanagul.
Genosolango said they are still looking to where district hospital that the relieved doctor will be assigned.
Vatanagul, who is an outsourced doctor assigned in Tuburan for two years, last reported to the district hospital last Sunday.
