ONE was killed while three others were injured when a car bumped into a passenger multicab in Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City, at dawn yesterday.
Marco Fernandez, 33, died upon arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital yesterday after sustaining multiple injuries.
The incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. yesterday.
Fernandez, a resident of Barangay Lawaan 1, was with John Cesar Labaro, 27, and Martin Moreno, 19, when a sedan-type vehicle driven by Genalyn Canoy suddenly slammed at a parked multicab.
The three victims were reportedly sitting in between the multicab and a parked truck just before the incident happened.
SPO1 Nestor Canlobo of the Talisay City Police Traffic Division said Canoy, who was going towards Cebu City, struck the multicab and pushed the vehicle toward the three victims.
The three were then pinned between the truck and the multicab.
While Fernandez succumbed to injuries, Canoy, Labaro and Moreno were brought to different private hospitals for medical attention.
Canlobo claimed that Canoy, a resident of A. Lopez St. in Cebu City, was reportedly speeding just before the accident took place.
But Canlobo added that their investigators are still determining whether Canoy had been intoxicated.
For now, they are preparing the charges to be filed against Canoy for the incident.
