Facelift for office of governor stalled-A A +A

THREE months after he assumed office, Gov. Hilario Davide III continues to hold temporary office at the old session hall as the renovation of the governor’s office has yet to begin.
Lawyer Ramil Abing, the governor’s chief of staff, said none of the interested contractors qualified during the bidding last Sept. 6.
Rica Lañojan, Provincial Bids and Awards Committee secretariat, said another bidding has been scheduled at 10 a.m. on Monday at the Baex Building, within the Capitol compound.
The approved budget contract for the renovation of the governor's office is worth P738,678.63.
Lañojan said 88 contractors expressed interest in joining the bidding but only six pursued it.
But, she said, the bidding was declared a failure because participants failed to comply with some documents.
Some of them did not have bid documents, she added.
She said the bid document carries the plan and scope of the project. It can be obtained from the Capitol for P1,000.
The contractors who will join the bidding on Monday are GTM Builders and Supply; Rikda Construction and Development Corp.; Nelson S. Lee Construction; Fairchild Builders and Developers Inc.; QM Builders General Building and Engineering Construction; and BL Pangan Construction.
Davide wants his office to have a clear glass door, in line with his policy of transparency.
