THE body of an 18-year-old man was fished out in the waters off Barangay Centro, Mandaue City last Friday afternoon.
Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) found the body of Malvin Demigillio Tupas floating near F.F. Cruz St. in the reclamation area in Barangay Centro around 1 p.m.
Police investigators will subject the body to an autopsy to find out whether there was foul play.
Police Officer 1 (PO1) Jerry Gasgonia, of the Mandaue City Police Office Investigation and Detection Management Branch, said Tupas, who was identified by his uncle, bore a wound in the head.
Personnel from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) were called in to check the area before the body was removed from the water.
Tupas wore a black T-shirt, black pants, black socks and a stainless necklace. His body was taken to the Rolling Hills Funeral Homes in Barangay Banilad.
Tupas was a resident of Purok Butterfly, Barangay Babag Uno, Lapu-Lapu City.
His uncle, Walter Pabalan, 37, told police Tupas had been missing since Wednesday afternoon.
Tupas, who lived with his uncle, went foraging with his friends along the shore of Babag Uno last Wednesday afternoon.
Pabalan said he sought the help of the police last Thursday when his nephew did not return.
