SOME motorcycle-for-hire drivers spend their earnings on illegal drugs instead of supporting their families.
This prompted their wives to seek police help, which led to the arrest of a suspected drug pusher during a buy-bust in Sitio Kadauhan, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City last Monday.
Allegedly seized from the possession of Ronel Damaolao, 34, were five packs containing a white powder believed to be shabu and P930 believed to be drug proceeds.
The operation was conducted by the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) at 3:35 p.m.
Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado, head of CAIDSOTG, said the women went to their office to give information about Damaolao’s illegal activity.
They told police their husbands stopped supporting them since all their earnings went to buy illegal drugs.
Avergonzado said the women were happy when they discovered Damaolao was taken into custody.
During a tactical interview, the suspect admitted his involvement in the illegal drugs trade.
He said his financier hails from Barangay Pulangbato.
The illegal drugs seized from him will be submitted to PNP Regional Crime Laboratory 7 for chemical analysis.
Also last Monday, operatives of the CCPO’s City Intelligence Branch arrested 26-year-old Dave Hera in Barangay Mambaling around 8:30 p.m.
Aside from the 142 marijuana sticks allegedly found in Hera’s possession, police, led by Senior Insp. Wayne Magbanua, also seized a 9mm pistol with three magazines, 24 live bullets and eight live shotgun ammunitions from the suspect.
Damaolao and Hera will face complaints for allegedly violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Separate complaints for illegal possession of firearms and violating the election gun ban will be filed against Hera.
