THREE men accused of gang raping their cousin were arrested by police on separate occasions last Thursday.
They were identified as Eddie Nasoli, 48, his brother Benjie, 30, and their cousin Lito Pastida, 47.
Their arrests were made on the strength of a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court 7 Branch 61 Judge Antonio Marigomen for two counts of rape.
The suspects allegedly raped their 50-year-old cousin Kate (not her real name) last March after a drinking session.
Insp. Glen Devocion, head of Borbon Police Station, told Sun.Star Cebu that police assets informed them of the suspects’ whereabouts.
Apparently, the three men had returned to their respective homes after months of hiding.
Operatives walked two hours to reach the mountain barangay of Managase, Borbon around 10:30 p.m.
They first went to the houses of Benjie and Pastida. Benjie allegedly tried to flee but police cornered him.
The team proceeded to Barangay Damolog in Sogod where Eddie resided. They caught him around 11:30 p.m
Apart from the three suspects, police are also looking for another suspect who reportedly left Cebu after the incident.
Devocion said the alleged incident happened in Barangay Managase, while the suspects and victim were on their way home after a drinking session.
“Gibunlot kuno ni ang babaye unya gitabangan (They grabbed the woman and they all raped her),” he said. The victim went to the police station to report the incident.
Police brought Kate to the hospital for a medical examination. Results indicated she was raped, Devocion said.
