A 46-YEAR-OLD man was shot and killed in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City yesterday morning.
The attack on Alexander Tura was made in front of his 10-year-old and his live-in partner.
Tura died in the hospital from gunshot wounds in his chest and back. His neighbor identified as Raymund Morales, 29, was hit by stray bullets in the right knee and left foot.
Police said the attack took place at 9:30 a.m. while Tura, together with his son and his live-in partner Liezel Vergara, was walking toward the sea.
The gunman, who was only identified as Michael, together with two other men, reportedly waited for Tura in a corner.
Vergara, 32, said Michael pulled out a .45 pistol and shot Tura several times.
Michael and his cohorts fled, while Tura was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center.
Tura, however, died few hours after he arrived at the hospital.
Police recovered seven empty shells from a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
SPO1 Ruth Violango of Cebu City Police Office’s Homicide Section said they are looking into Tura’s alleged involvement to illegal drugs as the potential motive in the attack.
Vergara, when interviewed by police, said Michael asked Tura to kill some people who owed money to his boss.
Tura reportedly declined that irked Michael.
The police will investigate if Tura is involved in gun-for-hire activities.
